The classic apple candy apple recipe can be made using one of three simple ingredients.
All you need is a candy apple that’s been ground up and soaked in apple cider vinegar.
If you don’t have an apple, you can make one from scratch using a variety of ingredients and the ingredients listed below.
Just remember to use a candy thermometer to ensure the apples are cooked through.
To prepare the apple, place a piece of candy in the bottom of a glass and cover it with ice.
Pour the apple juice into the candy and set aside.
Next, pour the sugar into a small saucepan and cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
Add the cinnamon and nutmeg and cook until the mixture becomes thick and syrupy.
Stir in the apple cider and bring to a boil.
Turn the heat down to low and allow the apple to simmer for about 10 minutes.
When it’s ready, remove the apple from the heat and remove the candy.
The candy should be cool to the touch.
Now, simply scoop out the apples and place them on a plate or in a bowl and cover with ice for 30 seconds.
Return the apples to the refrigerator and let them cool completely.
To make the candy apple, boil the apple in a large pot until the apple starts to bubble and the apples start to soften.
Once the apple is soft, remove it from the pot and stir in the lemon juice.
Bring to a simmer and cook for another 10 minutes, until the lemon is soft and caramelized.
Add in the cinnamon, nutmeg, and apple cider.
Taste and adjust the sweetness.
Serve the apple with ice cream or other dessert.
