GEGERS candies and ginger candy will be available through online retailers and grocery stores for sale, the company announced Monday.
The move follows a recent announcement from GEGER candy and ginger manufacturers that they are considering selling the candy and sweetener in the U.S. for the first time.
GEGERS has not yet announced plans for an initial public offering.
The companies said that it would not impact their financial statements.
The companies are the latest companies to seek a U.N. ban on the sale of genetically modified ingredients, a move that has been challenged by food and agriculture groups.
A GEGers announcement also comes as the U of C’s food safety and environmental departments announced they are conducting a joint investigation into GEG’s GMO ingredients.
