It may be one of the most popular pet treats of all time, but a new product made by a U.S. company could be getting rid of the rabbit.
White rabbit candy has become a hit with consumers and pets because it’s easy to make, according to the Humane Society of the United States.
“I think it’s going to take a little bit of time, I don’t think it will be done by the time this year is out, but it is a new toy,” said Sharon Guggenheim, president and CEO of the Humane Societies of Canada.
Guggenheimer said it takes at least six months to make the bunny candy, which is made with corn syrup and caramel, and lasts for six months.
White rabbits can be up to three years old.
She said white rabbits have a sweet smell and are popular with children.
The Humane Society sells white rabbit treats for $9 a dozen.
