El Paso Police have launched an investigation into a fatal shooting that left a candy shop owner dead.
El Paso Police Chief Greg Hernandez told ABC News that a man was killed after a fight broke out inside the El Paso Candy Shop on Thursday afternoon.
Hernandez said the man was shot after a confrontation between the man and two other men.
Holland said police have a video that shows the man leaving the store, walking down the sidewalk, and then getting into a fight with the man.
He said the victim ran to a nearby grocery store, and that the man who fired the shots, identified as Juan Carlos Gonzalez, was then confronted by the man he was fighting.
Hinson said Gonzalez then began to flee the scene and that he was chased down the street by officers.
Hellis said Gonzalez was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Hazlington said police are investigating whether the shooting was justified.
He added that the El, Paso Candy Store has been closed since Thursday afternoon and has closed its doors for the time being.
Heller said the store was one of many that were open at the time of the shooting, and the employees are distraught.
He called the incident “disgracious” and said he was grateful that no one was injured.
